Salt Stall
So you got a salt stall alert. This means your salt has not moved more than 5% in 60 days. Let's get to the bottom of it!
1. Checking for a salt bridge
A salt bridge happens when the salt near the bottom of the bin turns into a solid crystal "bridge." This can give the appearance that you have salt in your brine tank, and yet, you have hard water.

2. Checking your EZsalt Sensor
Before checking for issues with your water softener, let's make sure your EZsalt Sensor is functioning correctly. All EZsalt Sensors are warrantied for 3 years, if you find an issue and are within the warranty period, we've got you covered.
-
Dust off the sensor glass
-
Sensor distance tracking test
-
Take your sensor off the lid, make sure it is still plugged in, hold it a foot or so above the ground and tap Refresh Sensor in the app. Continue these steps as you gradually lift the sensor away from the ground. Each time you take a refresh in the app, you should see the salt level decrease (simulating salt going down). If you can get readings from ~90% all the way down to ~10%, your sensor is working correctly. If not, contact us and we will continue investigating to see if your sensor needs to be replaced.

3. An issue with your Water Softener
There could be deeper reasons that your water softener is not using salt, such as an issue with the softener itself. If you have already checked for a salt bridge and did not find one, and you did the sensor test above, it may be time to check on your system.
-
Regenerate your water softener manually.
-
Look for a button on your water softener head which says "Regen" or "Regenerate" push and hold it until you hear some loud sounds start up from your softener. This action causes a regeneration and takes about an hour. Come back later and see if the salt has gone down.
